Independence of Singapore agreement, 1965

Even as the era of colonialism comes to an end, the troubles and challenges facing the Malay Peninsula are just beginning. It is January 1965; one and a half years since the creation of Malaysia through the merging of several former British colonies, including Singapore. However, Singapore’s status in this federation is far from satisfactory to many. In this political grand strategy simulation, delegates will confront the political and economic constraints imposed by Malaysia, the impacts of military spillover from the Konfrontasi raging between Malaysia and Indonesia, and the pressure from rising calls for Singaporean independence. As delegates navigate this era of uncertainty, they will face the challenges that all ruling parties confront: maintaining national stability, political legitimacy, strong foreign relations, and citizen well-being. Fail to balance these needs, and Singapore may yet fall to infighting or even invasion. Singapore’s future lies in your hands.

The Velvet Divorce, 1992

As the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, Eastern Europe clutched back their freedom from the tyranny of Moscow. While the other Warsaw Pact states embarked on moving toward liberal democracy and abandoning communist dictatorship, Czechoslovakia had a different issue to solve: A question of national existence itself. It's the year 1992 and chaos has ensued throughout the nation: The economy is in shambles, Moscow has fallen, the liberals are mad, the communists are mad, the Czechs and the Slovaks are both furious. With the threat of collapse on the horizon, delegates navigate the complexities of forming a new society amongst the dysfunction. Taking on the roles of the elite cohort forming the post revolution leadership, critical decisions must be made: What economic system should Czechoslovakia adopt? Who should they align with now? Should the country even remain one nation?

The Chinese Market reform of 1970

For much of its modern history, China has been defined by a closed economy largely isolated from the rest of the world. A tradition that has persisted throughout the transition from the Republic of China to the People's Republic of China following the Chinese Civil War. However, as the conflict subsides, the Chinese leadership senses that its only way to remain competitive in an increasingly globalized world and economy is to open itself to that world. Under Deng Xiaoping's leadership, the CCP began the rapid reformation and opening up of the Chinese economy to the rest of the world, resulting in massive economic growth, social upheaval, and a new China. This committee will have a particular focus on the reforms made in the 1990s (policies introduced after Deng's Southern tour), as the process of China's opening up began in the late 1970s and was revived in the 1990s.

arcane: The Noxian-Demacian war

In the aftermath of the events of Arcane, the balance of power across the continent has been shattered. Piltover struggles to rebuild after devastating attacks, Zaun descends further into instability, and the death of key leaders has created uncertainty throughout the known world. Amid this chaos, the expansionist empire of Noxus sees an opportunity. Under the leadership of Grand General Swain, Noxus has begun extending its influence across Valoran, bringing it into direct conflict with the proud kingdom of Demacia.

Long simmering tensions have erupted following reports of Noxian spies operating within Demacian borders and allegations that foreign agents are secretly supporting the growing mage unrest inside the kingdom. As armies mobilize and diplomacy breaks down, both nations prepare for what may become the largest war in modern Runeterran history.

Delegates will assume the roles of champions, nobles, generals, spies, and political leaders from across Runeterra. They must navigate military conflict, political intrigue, espionage, rebellion, and shifting alliances while determining the future of their nations. With dark forces such as the Black Rose operating from the shadows and ancient powers awakening across the continent, one question remains:

Will Runeterra emerge united, or will it be consumed by war?
